Randomness, a Recipe, and a PSA

We had the nicest Memorial weekend.
We didn't go anywhere.
It was bliss.

We stayed home...played in the backyard...grilled...went to the pool...and just chilled.
{oh...and *finally* finished the kitchen. hallelujah!}

It felt great to fire up the grill after the winter hiatus.
Per Gary's request, I made his favorite for-the-grill chicken:

Citrus JalapeƱo Marinade
(for chicken or turkey)
1 can frozen oj concentrate (thawed)
3/4 cup lime juice
1/2 cup honey
4 jalapeƱos, seeded & chopped
5 cloves garlic
1.5 Tbsp. cumin
1 Tbsp. grated lime peel
1 tsp. Lawry's seasoned salt

Combine all ingredients.
Makes enough to marinade 4 large chicken breasts AND veggies.
{I used bell peppers, mushrooms, and red onion.}
I usually make them into kabobs, but I was out of skewers.

Yummy.

And here's the spread from another angle...

...complete with countertop clutter.

{Most of} the dinner was delicious.
We did have one grill Fail, however....

Good thing they were only 25 cents/ear.

And here's a PSA to all the kids out there:
wear your sunscreen.
Otherwise you get what I like to call "freckles",
but what my dermatologist likes to call "sun damage".

And when your doctor burns the "freckles" off of your hands you walk around looking like a leper for 10 days.
Good times.

Finally, at age 8.5 my son has become a fan of (clean) hand gestures
and weird facial expressions.
Almost every picture I take of him involves a variation of this:

The brain of an 8.5 year old is a complicated thing.

ouch with your burning off thingies. definitely a PSA for sure, but I'm doomed, I'm a product of the 70s when we did baby oil and burned (what were we thinking??)

so happy you got the kitchen done!

always nice to have a relaxful weekend! sounds like it was perfect and that chicken looked delicious! oh well with the corn, too cute!! I think we all have a horror story with the grill; ours involved hot dogs

love your son's expressions, how cute!!!

Oooh your chicken recipe looks soooo good!! I don't know why but I am always hesitant to use jalapenos. I think I'm afraid I will cut them and then wipe my eyes and burn and ... well, I don't know. For some reason, they just intimidate me. :)

Silly and fun pictures of your cute 8.5 year old.

And I love your freckles. Phooey on that dermatologist. They add character.

That chicken looks rad, girl! I love your kitchen countertop paraphanelia. It looks like mine. Those dogs and their meds.... I feel your pain! Your son is a hoot and I am digging those facial expressions. Classic.
