So.
Let's talk.
I'm going to be honest.
I would like to lose about ten pounds.
And, sadly, I've been saying that for awhile.
Really, if I'm still being honest,
it's my own fault that I haven't already lost those ten.
So I'm trying to be better.
Snacking less...eating less.
And making more protein shakes.
Because protein = feeling full = not eating = blah, blah, blah.
Here are my two favorite shakes.
The first: vanilla lemon strawberry.
It's good.
Vanilla whey protein powder, almond milk, Fage yogurt,
fresh (or frozen) strawberries, flax meal
and lemon-flavored omega 3 supplement (from Costco).
I use a cup of almond milk, about a tablespoon of yogurt and flax,
a cup of strawberries, 2 teaspoons of the omega and
one measuring cup scoop that comes with the protein powder.
Blend with ice.
It makes two shakes.
Plus it's a good way to get some extra omega 3 into your diet.
But my very very very favorite
is the chocolate peanut butter protein shake.
Deeeee-licious.
A cup of almond milk, one tablespoon of peanut butter,
a scoop of chocolate protein powder, one tablespoon fage yogurt,
a teaspoon or so of flax meal, and a package of
instant oatmeal prepared with water and cooled.
Blend it all with ice
(it also makes two shakes)
and I can pretty much guarantee you will love it.
I can drink one for breakfast
and save the other one for those horrible hours between
lunch and dinner when I want to eat everything in the pantry.
If you try them,
let me know what you think.
And if you have any other great shake recipes,
let me know.
And can we all please just agree
that life would be a lot easier if salt & vinegar chips were a health food?
Thank you.

your protein shakes look great, Keri!! I know you can get those 10 pounds off!! The best protein shakes I had were years ago when I went through a weight loss clinic (worked great, but I didn't continue with the program); they were smooth tasting and so very (expensively) good!
keep up the good work!!!
(I was that first comment that got deleted; I accidentally, yet once again, left a comment on your blog on my other screen name, sorry about that!!!!!)
betty
I too have been trying to lose 10x3 pounds...my trainer is big on Protein shakes and more green in your diet. I started putting a handful of spinach in my shakes at first I was like are you kidding me...but it's good you hardly taste it.
They sound Yummo. I'm allergic to almond, what would you suggest as a substitute? I'm more than willing to give them a try. I totally sympathize about the in between lunch and dinner time. For me... it hits about 3pm.
I've got a pesky 10 to lose too. Hate it, but it is what it is. Maybe I will get on the protein shake train...
Yum...I may need to get some of that Omega 3 lemon stuff from Costco. That sounds great...and I don't eat much fish, so I really probably should take an Omega 3 supplement.
My smoothies are usually...
*Frozen fruit
*Yogurt
*Milk
*Grape juice
*Agave nectar
*Vanilla
*Wheat germ
*Flaxseed (I use the same one from Costco that you use.)
Throw it all together, and blend. I don't use ice since I use frozen fruit.
Oh yeah, and if I have bananas, I throw in a banana too. (I'm usually making a lot for the whole family, or at least for me & the kids, so I use a whole banana.)
wellll, since you asked...
1c almond milk
2T almond Butter
1T chia seeds
frozen banana
blueberries
...and sometimes I add 1T of pure Valhrona coco powder from whole foods....YUMM!
oh and I can't WAIT to try the lemon flax! genius!! Didn't even know it existed :)
PS...again...when will they develop "chocolate flax?"
Your protein shakes look yummy.
Do you ever throw spinach into them? You can't even taste it. I love it.
You don't look like you have any pounds to lose at all!
We make shakes all the time, but yours look so much better! I will have to try the vanilla strawberry. Thanks for the great idea.
