we're pretending it's spring over here.

For me, once January is over,
winter can be over.

And awesome temperatures here don't help my spring longings.
Tonight the kids stayed outside on the trampoline until after dark.
The trampoline is absolutely the best money we've ever spent.

{or...i should say...the best money santa has ever spent.}

And the sky was awesome.

I've been doing so well with our "lifestyle change" for the past ten days or so.
Awesome willpower...staying full on fruits and veggies...no diet coke.
And then today...I wanted to eat.
Like...everything.

I didn't,
but I wanted to.
{combine that with my weepy post from yesterday...hormones, anyone??}

Last night I made pizza for dinner.
I made the crust, the sauce, everything.
{that was a first for me.  usually i grab a boboli.}

It was really good.
The crust recipe was from here.
It was very easy.  I know it's intimidating to make bread and dough,
but trust me.  Worth it.
And the sauce?
SO good.

Here's what I did:

Pizza Sauce
1 6oz. can organic tomato paste
6 oz. warm water
3 Tbsp. grated parmesan
1 tsp. minced garlic
1 Tbsp. honey
3/4 tsp. onion powder
1/4 tsp. oregano
1/4 tsp. marjoram
1/4 tsp. pepper
salt to taste

I heated it all in a small saucepan over the stove
until it was warm and mixed together.
Yum.

I grated fresh mozzarella
and put basil on the half Gary and I ate.

And just to let you know what else was going on in the kitchen...

a mess - and a ballerina - on the counter.

This dinner was yummy.
Even the kids loved it.
And the basil and mozzarella reminded me of spring and summer.

This week has been insanely busy.
I'm so glad tomorrow is Friday.
The kids are going to my parents' house to spend the night.
Booyah!!

I. am. not. cooking.
:)

I love that you've been sharing this new food journey of yours because I am on a kick as well! It's a lot of work and can be really intimidating but i am determined to stick to it. I love those food blogs you shared that you've been getting recipes from! Especially Lisa's. I've been pinning her stuff like a mad woman.
I'm off to Trader Joe's today and I 'm gonna try her crockpot beans this weekend.

oh, and I made her bread recipe too. Smelled so good! but did you think your loaf was pretty dense? mine was but not sure if we are just not used to that, or if it was me.

We had spring here in Ontario too. but alas winter has finally arrived :( Your pizza looks good. yum yum
I'm going to ba a grandma in July and my kids asked me for a list of baby names I like. On my list is the name Avery. Funny thing is it's on their list too :) I was wondering if you shorten Avery's name at times? if so what do you call her? we want to be prepared for short forms and I can't really think of any for Avery. you can e-mail me at rhdewitt at quadro dot net if you'd like to talk :)
