six random randoms.

1.  I am iPhone-less, still.
My phone is living with the giant spiders in golden gate park until further notice, apparently.
{confused?  explanation here.}
The museum keeps promising that the biologists will try to retrieve it soon,
but so far they haven't.
I guess they have more important things to do like keep animals alive and stuff?
Whatever.

2.  I'm still sugar-free.
And wheat-free.  And dairy-free.
{ok, full disclosure...except for half and half in my coffee.  a girl's gotta live a little, right?}
It's been 15 days, and except for that half and half, I'm sticking with it.
I almost hate to say it out loud, but I've had fewer migraines.
But I'll tell you...not eating the crusts that I cut off of Avery's pb&j is tough.
Why does pb&j look so goooooooood when you can't have it??

3.  The days have been warm here.
We've been ending the days by the firepit.

There's just something about chilling by the fire for an hour that
ends the day right.

3.  This girl is a big ham.

IMG_0857

She can be shy in front of other people,
but around us she's a goof.

And obviously she knows the west coast is the best coast.

4.  So...this man.  I  married him for love.
But thirteen years ago I had no idea that he has mad hang-things-on-the-wall skillz.
HUGE.  MARRIAGE.  BONUS.
{what would I do without him??}

5.  The highlight of Avery's life is when the kitty lets her hold her.

IMG_0874

The highlight of the kitty's life is when Avery leaves her alone.
But don't tell Avery that.

6.  I promise I still have two other children.
I love them dearly, despite the lack of pictures I took of them this week.
I feel better after saying that.

sick...and a kitty.

So, 3/5 of our family is sick.
It happens to be the male 3/5 of the family.
Avery and I are the only two healthy ones in the house,
and I'm really really hoping it stays that way.

I'm doling out Ibuprofen and Albuterol right on cue.
I hate when my family is sick.
Hate.  It.
But I know I shouldn't complain.
This is NOTHING compared to what so many others go through.
{but i'm still feeling a little complainy.  i'll blame exhaustion.}

So...
this little person is obsessed with snowflakes.
I probably folded no less than twenty squares of paper for her this weekend,
and she cut cut cut away.

The broom is getting a lot of action thanks to this snowflake phase.

I realized that I haven't told you much about the kids' Christmas present.
All three of them asked for just ONE thing this Christmas.
One.
And Santa promised.
Oh boy.

Last weekend we headed to the Humane Society.
After looking at every. single. kitty. many times,
we found our new kitty friend.
{spayed, immunized, and microchipped for $29.  bargain!}

This is Allie.

I know...some of you are thinking we're crazy.
I get it.
You're either a cat person or you aren't.
But...she's a good kitty.
The kids are totally in love.
She plays, she purrs, she has a cute gravelly meow, and she makes Lucy totally nervous.

And she gets a lot of attention from Avery.
She lets Avery carry her all over the house.
Such a patient kitty.

So there you have it.
We have a cat.

Now I need to finish watching The Bachelor
and head to bead.
Playing nurse all weekend has worn me out.
Can summer just get here already?
I'm over this winter thing.
